Voting in Adelaide City Council Elections

There are approx. 21,000 potential voters in the City of Adelaide Local Government elections. You are one of these if you are:

• A resident of the City of Adelaide;
• An owner of property within the City of Adelaide; or
• A business owner within the City of Adelaide.

You may also vote if you are a nominee of a body corporate or nominee of a group. A group comprises joint owners of any rateable property or joint occupiers of non-residential rateable property.

No one can vote in more than one of the above capacities; so regardless of how many buildings you own, you get just 1 vote.

Not an Australian citizen? Well this is the ONLY vote you get! That means international students, if they enrol and live in the city, get a vote. Please let them know...

You need to have enrolled by 5pm Friday 13 August - enrolment forms can be found here >>>

Frustrated you are not a voter? Last election just over 30% of potential voters participated. Please make sure your friends cast their vote and consider this your chance to make a difference.

It’s a postal vote – sent out Monday 25 October. It MUST be returned by 12th November as counting is Saturday the 13th November.

People will be voting for 12 positions as follows:

• Lord Mayor
• 5 Area Councillors (council wide)
• 6 Ward Councillors (2 Councillors from 3 wards; being north, central and south wards).

I encourage people to consider standing and am keen to talk to you if interested.

If you have any more questions check out this FAQ or contact council via the details on the web site here.
